Director's statement

When I made "Schenglet", I wanted to approach migration and border politics through satire rather than solemnity. By following a naive village policeman suddenly tasked with enforcing the complexities of the Schengen agreements, I explored how large geopolitical decisions filter down into small, local absurdities. Humor allowed me to reveal contradictions—between national identity and European integration, between duty and common sense. **The film ultimately suggests** that bureaucracy often creates confusion rather than clarity, and that ordinary individuals are left to navigate rules that feel detached from lived reality. Through irony and warmth, I sought to humanize a debate too often reduced to slogans.
