A 10-year-old girl torn between two mothers, one who raised her with love and her birth mother, who instinctively claims her back. A story of imperfect motherhood and inextricable bonds, struggling with innate feelings and dealing with wounds.
With "Daughter of Mine", I wanted to explore motherhood beyond biology, beyond possession, and beyond social expectation. Through the story of a ten-year-old girl torn between her loving adoptive mother and her unstable biological mother, I sought to portray how identity is shaped by competing forms of love. Sardinia’s wild landscape mirrors this emotional tension—both nurturing and untamed. Rather than choosing sides, I was interested in the ambiguity of attachment. **The film ultimately reveals** that motherhood is not defined by blood alone, but by presence, responsibility, and sacrifice. It invites viewers to reflect on belonging, instinct, and the fragile bonds that form a family.
