Bringing the innermost workings of international politics to center stage are two anonymous student filmmakers who follow Caroline Gautier, Chief of Staff of the Security Department in Geneva, as she prepares to welcome a soon-to-be-released detainee and offer him a brand new life. But, wouldn’t you know it, the events surrounding this momentous occasion begin to unravel, quickly and precipitously. Political protests, strained diplomatic relations, anxious ambassadors, and international misunderstandings force Gautier—with cameras rolling—to decide how far she’s willing to go to save her career and protect the prisoner.
When I conceived "Confusion", I wanted to explore how uncertainty shapes both personal identity and collective reality. The film follows characters navigating a world where information is fragmented, loyalties are unstable, and truth feels increasingly elusive. Rather than offering clear answers, I chose to embrace ambiguity, allowing contradictions to coexist. The narrative mirrors the mental state of its protagonists—disoriented, searching, vulnerable. **The film ultimately suggests** that confusion is not merely chaos, but a reflection of our times, where clarity demands effort and responsibility. Through tension and introspection, I invite viewers to question perception, certainty, and the fragile boundaries between fact and belief.
