Christopher Murray

Christopher Murray (b. 1985) is a Chilean filmmaker and visual anthropologist recognized for blending documentary realism with allegorical storytelling. Educated at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, he debuted with Manuel de Ribera (2010, Rotterdam), interrogating myths of Chilean identity. Co-directed works Propaganda (2014) and God (2019) used collective authorship to dissect politics and faith. The Blind Christ (2016, Venice competition) portrayed a mystical pilgrimage through Chile’s desert, fusing spiritual quest and social critique. Sorcery (2023, Sundance) dramatized witchcraft and colonial oppression in Chiloé, praised for atmosphere and allegorical power.
