Tobias Nölle

Tobias Nölle (b. 1979, Switzerland) is a Swiss writer-director and visual artist whose work explores themes of alienation, social control, and contemporary anxieties. After studying at the Zurich University of the Arts, he gained international recognition with his feature debut Aloys (2016), which premiered at the Berlinale and won the FIPRESCI Prize. Blending psychological drama with subtle elements of fantasy, the film established his distinctive minimalist style. Nölle’s cinema is marked by precise visual composition, restrained performances, and an interest in the fragile boundaries between isolation and connection in an increasingly mediated world.
