Siamak Etemadi

Siamak Etemadi (b. 1972, Tehran) is an Iranian-Greek filmmaker known for intimate, spiritually resonant storytelling rooted in immigrant identity and emotional transformation. He moved to Athens in 1995, studied cinema in the UK and Greece, and spent years assisting on films, TV, and documentaries . His short Cavo d’Oro (2012) premiered in Locarno and was nominated for a Greek Film Academy Award . His debut feature, Pari (2020), premiered at Berlinale Panorama and traces an Iranian mother’s nocturnal journey across Athens as she searches for her missing son—transforming urban decay into a terrain of personal rebirth . Etemadi’s cinema blends poetic realism, cultural displacement, and metaphoric cityscape as interior journey.
