Born in 1977 in Romania, Radu Jude graduates from the Media University of Bucharest. Then he starts as an assistant director for feature films like _The Rage_ by Radu Muntean (2002), _The Death of Mr. Lazarescu_ by Cristi Puiu (2005) and _Amen._ by Costa Gavras (2002). Thereafter he signs his own short films, _Wrestling_ (2003), _The Black Sea_ (2004), _In the Morning_ (2007), _Alexandra_ (2006), and the award winning _The Tube with a Hat_ (2006). He directs also many advertising films before tackling his feature debut, _The Happiest Girl in the World_ (2009). The script wins the NHK/Filmaker Award at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival and the film wins the CICAE Award at the 2009 Berlin Film Festival. He later directs _Everybody in Our Family_ (2012) as well as two short films, _Shadow of a Cloud_ (2013) and _It Can Pass through the Wall_ (2014), both selected in the Director’s Fortnight in Cannes. _Aferim!_ (2015) wins the Silver Bear for Best Director in Berlin, and _Scarred Hearts_ (2016) wins the Silver Leopard and the Special Jury Prize in Locarno as well as the Silver Astor for best director in Mar del Plata. In 2016 Radu Jude directs Ingmar Bergman’s _Scenes from a Marriage_ for the National Theater of Timișoara. _Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn_ (2021) wins the Golden Bear for Best Film in Berlin.
