Lotfi Achour

Lotfi Achour

Origin: Tunisia

Lotfi Achour (b. Tunis) is a Franco-Tunisian director and playwright celebrated for haunting narratives that explore trauma, memory, and human resilience. A Sorbonne-trained theatre and film artist, he has authored over 25 stage productions and gained international acclaim with award-winning shorts including Père (2014) and La laine sur le dos (2016, Cannes) . His debut feature Burning Hope (2016) won Best Narrative Feature at New York City Independent Film Festival . His second feature, Red Path (2024), a powerful, dreamlike portrayal of a child’s psychological trauma after a jihadist attack, premiered in Locarno, won the Audience Award at Vancouver, and earned Best Feature and Best Director at the Red Sea Festival . Achour’s cinema fuses empathetic realism, lyrical visual language, and political urgency.
